Graduates earn 1,589 degrees, certificates from Jackson State University


About 17.2 percent of the 1,589 degrees and certificates handed out by Jackson State University in 2017-18 were to students in education programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Jackson conferred 111 bachelor's degrees and 95 master's degrees in education programs.

But the single most popular program was for a bachelor's degree in "other" multi-/interdisciplinary studies. Data shows the school gave out 132 bachelor's degrees in "other" multi-/interdisciplinary studies, followed by 122 bachelor's degrees in general biology/biological sciences and 96 bachelor's degrees in social work.

The university enrolled 8,558 students for 2017-18, including 6,500 in undergraduate programs and 2,058 in graduate programs.
