Coahoma County ranked 67th in state for resident earnings in 2017


Coahoma County ranked 67th among counties in Mississippi by annual earnings per resident, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau in August.

The median income of Coahoma County residents was an inflation-adjusted $17,661 per year. Coahoma County had 8,969 households in 2017, with a population of 24,296.

The county with the highest median resident income in the state was Madison County. Madison County's median income was $35,218 per year after adjusting for inflation – $17,557 more than Coahoma County. It had 38,405 households in 2017 and a population of 102,212.

Humphreys County had the lowest annual resident income among counties in Mississippi, with a median income of only $14,583 per year. That was $3,078 less than the median income in Coahoma County at the time. Humphreys County had 3,119 households in 2017 and a population of 8,678.
