Columbus-Lowndes Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Nov. 5.
More than ninety golfers gathered at Elm Lake Golf Course on Friday, November 1 for a day of fun and to help present United Way of Lowndes and Noxubee with a generous gift. Sponsors donated $35,000 and International Paper matched that 60% bringing the total to $56,000 in this first year event.
“At International Paper, we believe our company cannot succeed if our communities do not succeed,” said David Phillips, mill manager. “We are proud to support United Way of Lowndes and Noxubee as they strive to make a positive impact on the education, health and financial stability of Lowndes and Noxubee counties.”
“With this being our inaugural tournament, we really had no idea what to expect and our one goal was to help raise funds to support the vital work of United Way,” shared Kellum Kim, mill communications manager. “I want to thank the tournament’s Platinum Sponsor, Bolzoni Auramo, and every other sponsor who generously gave to make this event a success! A special thank you to United Way of Lowndes and Noxubee’s team and staff for the work they do every day to make a difference in our communities!
